Hair loss
Finding the cause with trichoscopy and treatment aimed at restoring your hair.
Losing 50-100 hairs a day is normal. A noticeable increase in hair on your brush, pillow or in the shower, thinning hair or patchy loss, however, needs an examination. Hair loss is often an echo of changes elsewhere in the body.
Types
- Diffuse (telogen) shedding: after stress, illness, childbirth or dieting
- Androgenetic alopecia: thinning at the crown in men and along the parting in women
- Alopecia areata: round bald patches
- Hair loss linked to skin conditions: seborrhoea, fungal infection
Diagnosis and treatment
- Trichoscopy: examining the hair and scalp in a magnified image
- Blood tests when needed: iron, vitamins, thyroid hormones
- Topical and oral treatment matched to the cause
- Procedures such as mesotherapy as an add-on to treatment
